Parent Resouces

The mission of the Haslett schools' K-12 Guidance and Counseling Program, is to enhance the development of all students in the areas of academic, personal, and social growth. Guidance and counseling provide developmental services that will empower students to:

  •  Promote their learning process.
  •  Effectively deal with situations that interfere with learning.
  •  Become goal directed and self-motivated in preparing for their future life and career goals.
  •  Develop positive personal, interpersonal and social skills.

There are many resources out there to help parents to help navigate the challenges of raising confident, healthy and resilient children in today's society. Here you will find topics with information about resources that may be helpful.

Personal Safety

Darkness to Light

Darkness to Light is a great resource to help parents become educated about childhood sexual abuse and ways you can safe guard your family.

Grief and Loss

Funerals and Children

Grief and loss can be experienced by anyone, but it can be particularly confusing when children are faced with this intense emotion. Everyone handles grief in a different way and for children they can experience it on many different levels with each stage of development they reach in life. These resources may help you on your journey as you try to help your child(ren) and yourself cope with the loss of a loved. The resources include how to talk with your child about death, how to talk to someone who has lost a loved one, developmentally appropriate expectations of grief and understanding of death as well as etiquette for attending a funeral with children.

Divorce and Separation

Up to Parents

Divorce is a reality for many children and their families.  Check out the Parents corner for videos, articles, and resources.  Or simply sign up on the home page and begin your journey to better understand how you can help your child(ren) yourself and your co-parent.
